SEASON 2 of AJC...
EVENT 1 - WASHERS
Event one went down on Aug
6th which was a Sunday. First time we had a rained out event! Everyone had a blast as usual and there were some close battles for sure! In the end the double champ and his partner came through... that being the repeat winner of Ryan and his new partner Christina (the Ringer). Last year it was Ryan and Fran winning. Nancy repeated as runner-up this season with Terry. Rounding out the top 3 was me and Alissa. We almost knocked off the champs to finish top 2 but lost a close one 21-19! Uggh. Onto event 2 in Sept... Softball!
EVENT 2 - SOFTBALL

Had an amazing day at the field for the second event of Season 2! Beautiful weather (a bit toasty out there), great friends, and a spirited game for sure! In the end the best team won, which of course was my team! LOL. Awesome comeback for our team... going into the final at-bat in the 7th inning we were down 17-11 and scored 7 runs to take the win 18-17! Some timely errors by Michelle's team helped us to the victory. One of the funniest moments was my in-the-park grand slam which looked like a circus act in the outfield. I hit a shot to center field that sat against the fence between Justin and Nicole who both looked at each expecting the other to grab it... meanwhile we ran the bases and with a wild throw from the wild man himself (aka Justin) all 4 runners made it home! Then Elwin finished the game off with a solo home run to seal the comeback!! Great game team! Now onto Bowling at Woodside Bowlarama!

Winning Team (left to right) - Fran, Alissa, Terry, Janeil, Percy, Ryan, Elwin, Jen, Steve, and the homerun retriever Landon! 8 homers hit and 5 almost hit cars at Maybank field! Yikes
EVENT 3 - BOWLING

Event 3 is in the books and the following 4 came out on top:
Steve P - First with a 3 string score of 261
Fran - Second with a score of 255
Michelle and Percy - Tied with 248 but Michelle had 1 more strike!

Had a fun time smashing balls into things! We should do it more often! Steve had a great first string score of 103 which was enough to give him the victory even though Fran, Michelle, and I were gaining on him but we just couldn't overcome that 103 start.

Apart from the crappy start thanks to the malfunction on the second Alley, it was a great night. I blame Sean for breaking it... you know what you did! Next up is 8-ball, my favourite. Time to get revenge on Ryan for last year!

Plus.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN!!
EVENT 4 - 8-BALL

Fun night at Dooly's Portland street! All the sharks were out looking for some fishies! 2 new great whites came lurking from the depths to dominate us smaller sharks and fish... Riley and Christie (aka "the ringers"). First time particpants and they both took home the win... Riley playing for Jen dominated the guys field (well technically I only lost by a game to him) while Christie cleaned up the women's side subbing for Steve. I need to rethink the sub rules for next season LOL. All good, everything was within the rules. Hoping we can maybe find them a spot in AJC next season full time but if not... we can always use more spares! Maybe I'll get Riley to sub for me next year... 2 years in a row now finishing 2nd in my favorite game!

Top 2 in each of the divisions:
Mens - Riley (shooting for Jen) took 1st, Percy took 2nd
Womens - Christie (shooting for Steve) took 1st, Alissa 2nd
Honourable mention to Ryan for finishing 3rd based on points.
EVENT 5 - SOCIABLES

Why does the Gamesmaster hate us?! Had a fun night but paid for it Sunday! Congrats to the top 3 on each table:
Kitchen Crew - 1st place - Fran
2nd place - Terry
3rd place - Christina
Dining Room Dingos - 1st place - Percy
2nd place - Christie (Janeil)
3rd place - Michelle
Ugly Xmas sweater winner was Nicole with her "Ugly Ass Xmas Sweater"! Well done... my finger still smells. Runner-up in votes was Fran. Honourable mention to Sean and Christina who were just too hot to be ugly LOL... and nice try Terry with the Leafs jersey. He's finally coming out of the closet! Also, kudo's to Jen for the clever sweater/drinking game! Pics below...

Lots of drinks, lots of laughs but next year I might take sociables out of the rotation for the sake of my liver
EVENT 6 - POKER

The Poker God's were not in my favour on this night! Made the final table but got knocked out pretty fast. Ryan pretty much dominated the field being chip leader for most of the night. A surprising top 3 though with both Mel and Michelle coming in 2nd/3rd respectively. I knew Michelle was going to do well when she bluffed me off the very first hand of the night and it was all down hill from there for me! At least I wasn't the first victim out... that honour goes to Alyssa who lasted I think about an hour of the game LOL! Better luck next year! 50/50 winner was Nancy for her second win of the season taking home $70! Curling is up next!
EVENT 8 - MINI PUTT

I missed this one but it sounds like everyone had fun. Several ties that had to be broken but the top 3 ended up being:
Alissa - with a score of 48
Terry - tied with a score of 48 but had more 5 stroke holes
Steve P - tied with a score of 48 but had more 6 stroke holes

Onto EVENT 7 which was postponed due to weather... Curling!
EVENT 7 - CURLING
Several close matches came down to the final shots to crown the top teams in this one! First round had Team Percy vs Team Ryan with huge implications for the standings. In the end, Ryan's team took it by a single point. In the other first round match, Steve's team beat Sean's team who was replaced by Mike. Even though Mike's team with Christina and Mel were short one, they put up a good fight and only lost by a point as well! In the finals, Ryan's team held on to beat Steve's by a single point as well and in the 3rd place matchup Percy's team held on and won by a point as well! All matches were extremely close! And only a couple spills this time!
Congrats to the winning team of Ryan, Terry, July (Janeil), and Nancy!! We're skipping Cards so next event is Axe Throwing May 3rd.
EVENT 10 - AXE THROWING
Big shake up in the standings after event 10! We had the most spares for any one event and after the chaos settled it was Steve's team who axed their way through the competition for the win! Steve's team consisted of Jen and Sam who was playing for Christina. Christina lucked out with a great spare who was the only person to score 2 bullseyes on the same turn! Steve's team started out slow with an ok first round but dominated the second round with a high score of 139... the next best round score was 108 by my team which ended up in last place somehow! Full results can be seen on the event page for Event 10. Great fun, great friends, and onto the next event... Bocce Ball on June 1st! P.S. more event pics below...
